The most recent development of differential technology by Andantex is a
differential gearbox with two output shafts. One output shaft drives
direct from the line shaft to transport the paper, and the second output
shaft drives the plate cylinder through a differential to register the
impression to the web. The dual differential drive is extremely beneficial on printing press that print on very thin film. In each extreme, a change in web tension during register correction provides poor print quality but with dual differential output the web tension does not change during register corrections.
The most important applications of the dual output differential is the register control and speed and position control. They are also widely used in audio synthesis system. They allow differential mode noise to be applied to the wireline.
